As a small business owner, I know how important a vibrant economy is. I support:
A transportation plan which brings jobs to our region and cares for our environment.
Workforce development for our young adults and those in a career transition.
Business incentives that create jobs which pay a living wage.
With my background as a non-profit Healthcare executive in Roanoke, I support:
The immediate implementation of the Affordable Care Act which provides access to Medicaid for working families and creates 30,000 new jobs.
More emphasis on Mental Health issues paid for by prison reforms.
As a father, I want the best educational opportunities for my children. I support:
PRE-K initiatives, appreciating that 80% of a child’s mental development occurs before the age of 5.
Reforming SOLs to allow teachers to teach by investing in students, not standardized tests!
Workforce Development initiatives for graduating high school seniors and for adults in a career transition.
During my 2008 Congressional Campaign, I welcomed the endorsement of the National Organization for Women because I support:
Ending this relentless attack on Women’s Rights.
Defending a woman’s right to control her own body.
Ending workplace discrimination and providing equal pay for equal work.
Placing the most severe punishments on those who traffic human sex workers.
Civil Rights & Immigration
Growing up in Roanoke as the child of immigrants, I believe everyone deserves a fair chance to live the American Dream. I support:
Comprehensive immigration reform that includes the DREAM act.
Restoring voting rights immediately to those who have served their debt to society.
Having the records of young offenders expunged after a probationary period so a mistake early in life does not doom their futures.
